Like to get in contact with American or English speaking women? One possibility to meet is the American Women's Club. The ladies of the Hospitality Committee may be one's first contact within the Club. They welcome new members, organize activities where you will meet other members and assist you to settle in Dusseldorf and Germany.
The AWC itself is a non-profit organization with approximately 400 members. 70% of the members are American or wives of Americans, about 15% cent are German, the remainder represent about 25 different nationalities. The club was founded in 1959 and has been a member of FAWCO, the Federation of American Women's Clubs Overseas since 1971.
The aim of the AWC is to meet for social, charitable and cultural activities. It offers a variety of activities such as tennis, bridge, language and literary circles and excursions. Not only monthly luncheons including specials such as speakers, but also cultural and travel events, fashion shows or musicals are part of the AWC's programme. You can meet at the weekly group of regulars, the Stammtisch, furthermore at the Moms & Tots group, the Kids' Club and the Big Kids' Club. All of them provide several kinds of jaunts and parties. Their newsletter Radschläger informs you about the programme of the club.
