Schützenfest.
If you want to get to know a really long-established folk festival in Germany the traditional Schützenfest, marksmen’s festival, is a must. The Schützenfest is an annual festival mainly celebrated in many German speaking regions in summer time.
The Schützenfest in Neuss is the largest one in the world to be organized by one single guild of marksmen without any guest parades from other cities participating. More than 6000 marching marksmen and 1200 musicians join the festival. Each year around one million people from Neuss and its surroundings come to visit the parades, parties and accompanying events. In 2007 the present record has been established with 1,5 million visitors.
